The debut album of Berlin’s finest two-thirds Welsh, one-third Danish instrumental psych-disco trio, out Aug 30th 2024. Imagine Jaki, JJ and Jarre*** locked in a room together, with a memo from John Carpenter that reads “Goblin + Shellac = ?”. Something like that. Raw drums, bass, vintage organs and synths are utilised to brutal effect via 7 epic songs that deliver krautrock disco disquietude, oscillating horror soundtracks and beyond. Or, as the band themselves insist: “the Nicki Minaj of dungeon synth”.
The band name, according to Anthony Burgess, is the Greek classifying nomenclature for man: aka The Talking Animal.
Zammit A.D. – drums, organs, synths. TNT Taylor – 4-string electric bass. Fred Alert – Moog, Dominion, percussions
featuring guest vocals from Gemma Ray. Recorded and mixed by Ingo Krauss (Swans, Einsturzende Neubauten) at Candy Bomber, Berlin.

Union is the new single from Sun Cutter, taken from the forthcoming album “Sun Cutter 2” available on all DSPs here: https://tr.ee/6ujkN1XPTe
A soul and folk-infused indie pop anthem with a chorus the size of Jupiter, the song is celebration of what human beings can achieve when we work and move forwards together as a community. The message of Union is as clear as it is universal: people-power and togetherness wins out, despite the odds. The song is also a nod to FC Union, the progressive and fan-owned professional Berlin football wunderclub, who can boast a history-making first: the first female coach of a mensteam in the Bundesliga (Marie-Louise Eta). Sun Cutter aka Kevin Pearce, from Essex in England, is a long-distance supporter!
“All together we will stand and fight the darkness that has taken up our lives” sings Sun Cutter on Union, accompanied by the Stagecoach Childrens Choir, Gale Paridjanian of Turin Brakes on sax, Cecilia Fage from Matt Berry & the Maypoles. The song also has added poignancy for Kevin as it features backing vocals from his dear friend Simon Holliday, soundman for Mercury Rev and Stereolab who passed away prematurely this summer.

“All Things Heavy” is the debut album from Berlin-based artist Mynolia, aka Maja Presnell. Out today on all digital platforms HERE, as well as limited edition vinyl HERE!
“I have no cultural or national identity whatsoever, and in that lack of anchor I think I just clung onto music like the lighthouse in the fog,” says Mynolia.
The young artist is especially gifted at crafting melodies, whether she’s phrasing her lyrics or collaging non-verbal singing. She has an intuitive sense of knowing where to layer, where to strip down, and where to be bare. Traditional folk choirs, eastern flute music, choral singing, and opera helped round out her vocal development. The electronic elements tilt the singer closer towards Men I Trust or Bat for Lashes. “I just spiral around facing every direction,” she says, and this explains her musical influences, songwriting habits, and philosophy on social change.

Gemma Ray has dropped a new track called Procession, and is the first to be taken from her forthcoming album “Gemma Ray & The Death Gang” out on Jan 20th 2023.
Listen to Procession and pre-order the limited splatter and/or eco-mix vinyl versions HERE
A visualiser for the track by artist Lucy Dyson can be viewed HERE
With Gemma Ray & The Death Bell Gang Ray takes an unexpected detour from her acclaimed psych-soul and torch-song oeuvre with a hard-edged experiment in cinematic electronica. Epic despite its underlying simplicity and groove, Gemma Ray & The Death Bell Gang blends the funereal and the sinister with tenderness and yearning, with a dash of automaton-pop and a Dada-esque playfulness for good measure. Front and centre is Gemma’s trademark stirring voice and harmonies, with sound design courtesy of Ralf Goldkind.
